More than a simple streetscape beautification, the Boynton Beach Boulevard Extension and Promenade was a strategically planned, catalytic project designed to: Create an inviting pedestrian and vehicular link to the Intracoastal Waterway Showcase Boynton Beachs historical fishing area Transform walkways into a scenic Gateway to the Gulfstream crowned by a waterfront park featuring natural mangrove preserves, walking and jogging trails, public art, shaded public seating and a year-round waterfront setting for events The project consisted of two specific elements: the extension of Boynton Beach Boulevard from US 1 to the Intracoastal Waterway and the construction of a boardwalk along the Intracoastal Waterway from Boynton Beach Boulevard north for approximately 4,000 feet
